Porto International Airport (OPO) Francisco Sá Carneiro is the closest international airport to Guimarães (about 50km by road). Connections to Guimarães:
- Conference shuttle busses.
Travel time: 45 minutes.
Participants who will use a shuttle bus should already have received an email from our partner ABREU, with further instructions and a confirmation. If you wish to use a shuttle bus, and have not yet communicated this to congress.porto AT abreu.pt, please do this urgently. We cannot guarantee a place in the shuttle service otherwise.
Time-table of shuttle buses: Tuesday, December 8th: 11:15h, 15:00h, 17:50h, 20:30h, 23:45h. Wednesday, December 9th: 11:20h, 12:00h.
- By taxi.
Cost: €50-60, travel time: 35 minutes.
We advise you to confirm the all-included price (including luggage costs and taxes) with the driver before the trip.
- By public transport/train (via Porto).
Cost: about €4,00 EUR, travel time: about 2,5 hours.
From the airport, take the Metro Line E to the Campanhã train station.
You will have to buy a single travel Z4 ticket (€1,45) per person from the ticket machines located at floor -1 of the airport. The tickets must be validated before the trip.
From Campanhã station to Guimarães, there are two types of trains: U (urban) and IC (intercidades).
Urban trains depart hourly (ticket: €2,15). Tickets are available from ticket machines and from ticket office of the train station. Get the schedule here.
There is only one IC train per day, leaving at 20h41 and arriving at Guimarães at 21h40 (€9 for 2nd class; €10 for 1st class). Tickets are available online, select "Porto - Campanhã" as departure station.
